Coffee and tea are like family to me. I need them in my life to help me get through the days and weeks, the good times and definitely the bad. And now my obsession has moved on to what is on the outside of the caffeine, not just on the inside.
When I was browsing in Urban Outfitter’s Home section recently, I came across all their new mug designs and they nearly all made me smile. I wanted to buy them all.
It was then that I realised the power of a good mug.
I am still feeling ill with the most annoying cold and cough, and whilst making myself a cup of tea just now, I routed around for my favourite mug in the cupboard as if drinking tea from any other mug wouldn’t taste as good and definitely wouldn’t make me feel better.
Call me crazy but I then got to think of the amount of people that have their own special mugs. The mugs that remind them of someone or somewhere or that just makes them happier than any other crockery item ever could.
In all the offices that I have worked in, lots of people have ‘their mugs’. Usually a Christmas gift from someone they love, or a little piece of home that they can look at all day. And it just proves again about the ‘power of a good mug’ and its ability to make you feel calm and happy wherever you are.
My family’s mug cupboard has hundreds of novelty mugs, just because they make us smile. We don’t have a neat set of matching cups – oh no – we have full on private-joke mugs, Initial mugs, Disney mugs, male mugs, female mugs, big mugs, small mugs, cracked-mugs-that-noone-uses-but-are-too-sad-to-throw-away-their-favourite-mug mugs.
