Yellow has never been, and probably never will be one of my favourite colours. However, a few years ago, my Grandma and I were walking past Petit Bateau and I saw a yellow raincoat in the window.
It instantly reminded me of being a child and playing in the puddles, like those books about Alfie and Annie Rose by Shirley Hughes.
I told my grandma about how it reminded me of being younger, and running around the park trying to find the muddiest, deepest puddles – and then we the conversation moved on and walked away from the shop window.
I totally forgot about it until 6 months later, on Christmas Day 2012, I received a Petit Bateau raincoat from my Grandma. It was so sweet of her to remember, but instantly I thought that I would never actually wear it. (I wore it once for fancy dress as a fisherman – sorry Nemo – but never as an actual outfit)
HOWEVER, recently I saw the same raincoat, my raincoat, make a new fashion appearance in Urban Outfitters. And now there are yellow raincoats everywhere! So I thought I would dig mine out from the back of the cupboard and play around with in, in my matching yellow Hunter wellies. Just like being 5 again! Who knows, maybe the yellow raincoat will become a staple for my Spring/Summer wardrobe. Perfect for those summer showers we are BOUND to have.
