‘Astral’ from your head to your toes

Keeping my skin hydrated is one of the things that I am absolutely terrible at. Honestly, I am awful.

Firstly, I never ever drink enough water. You are supposed to drink a minimum of 2 litres a day. I am embarrassed to say that I probably don’t even get to 25% of the recommended daily amount – I just live off cups of tea to stop me from becoming totally dehydrated and dying.

Secondly, I am the worst at applying moisturiser on a daily basis – especially in winter. Even my boyfriend moisturises more than me…

This results in me always have dull, tired skin. Even under layers of foundation.

So this Autumn I have decided to try and change this horrible habit and I am on a mission to get more plumped up, healthy, hydrated skin by Christmas.

I recently went to an event for Astral Original Moisturiser where we were treated to a talk about skincare by the amazing beauty therapist, Katharine Paterson. This woman is #skingoals. Flawless.

Anyway, the point that Katharine hammered home is that dehydration is the worst in terms of affecting people’s skin. She has totally inspired me to change my skincare and give it the hydration it deserves, especially as it has to put up with all the London pollution, make-up & unhealthy diet that I treat it to daily.

So this is where these bad boys come to play.

Astral Original is one of the most tried and tested moistursiers around – the formula hasn’t been changed in over 60 years! But you know what they say – If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I don’t know about you – but if something has been around for that long and is still going strong, it must be doing something right. Plus, it has a celebrity following of Twiggy, Joanna Lumley and Amanda Holden. If I can have the skin of any of these ladies, I will be very pleased. So this is why I decided to use Astral in my new ‘make myself hydrated’ mission.

Let’s start with the Astral Original. As I said before – it has been around for over sixty years, being passed down through generations.

I have never used it however at the event, all the girls were sharing stories of how their mother used to use it for everything, or their grandmother, and how some of them use it in their everyday beauty regime!

I can’t believe how many uses it has – you can use it as a moisturiser (obviously) for every single part of your body. It can be used as a day primer, a night cream, a make up remover, a face mask, for dry hands, cracked heels – the list goes on and on. Plus, this multi-purpose cream is unbelievably affordable. We are talking less than £5 for 200ml (which will last you forever). I heart drugstore!

keepin’ it simple

I rushed home from the event, ran upstairs and slathered myself in Astral waiting for the magic to happen. The first thing I loved is the scent. Such a comforting, gentle, homely scent, almost like a baby cream. It is so divine to put onto dry skin and my legs haven’t felt this soft since I was frantically moisturising them every hour after my holiday, trying to keep my tan on for a few more days.

I was slightly worried about using Astral Original on my face as I have oily-combination skin. Seeing as this is an all-round moisturiser, I thought it would be too rich for my face, especially my t-zone, and would make my skin too greasy. However, although I wouldn’t use it as a primer or day moisturiser as it is a bit too thick for me, I have been using it as a make up remover/night cream every night now and I love it. I have also used it as a thick face mask which was fun, until I forgot I had put it on and answered my phone – Spent about 10 mins wiping it off my iPhone screen.

And now let me introduce you to Astral Originals little sister – the brand new Astral Soft. A lighter formula which also contains vitamin E and aloe vera. This moisturiser is gorgeous. It literally sinks into your skin so quickly and leaves you feeling goddess-like. I could wear it on my skin throughout the day as a pollution barrier and primer as it is so gorgeous & light. (I will be sure to let you all know how it goes).

How gorgeous is this conference room at the Covent Garden Hotel!

I will keep you all posted on my mission for better skin! Let me know if you have any hydration tips! Are you an Astral fan or have you got a life long love affair with a different moisturiser? I would love to hear from you!
