My 2016 Wanderlust Wishlist

So – it is bloody cold in London right now. And when it is cold my thoughts range from 1) ‘I love the cold, so fresh.. ooh maybe it will snow.. Oh look how beautiful London looks in a frost, I can’t wait to snuggle up in 8 blankets and watch films in front of the fire’… to… 2) ‘I hate how cold I am, why are my fingers numb – I am inside for goodness sake, why does the air hurt my face, I need to book a holiday – if I am going to be this cold, then I want to be skiing, or actually I just want to be over-heating on a beach somewhere, holiday holiday holiday’.

My brain is currently stuck on the second option, so I am spending my day on SkyScanner looking at cheap flights to the sunshine. So I thought I would make a little blog post all about my Travel Destination Wishlist for 2016 (but lets be honest, more like a wishlist for 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 etc etc.)

I was so, so, very, very lucky to have the experience of packing up and going travelling for 7months a few years ago. It was always something I was desperate to do and I am so glad I had the opportunity to go. We (my boyfriend & I) visited 17 countries across 5 continents. We had 4 hospital visits, over 30 flights, a few overnight trains, many buses, boats, cars, over-night coaches, horses, two helicopter rides, learnt to scuba dive, climbed a glacier, jumped out a plane, walked with elephants, stood under Iguazu falls, flew over the edge of the Grand Canyon, black water rafted, zip wired, stayed in a salt hotel, wine tasted, played too many games of cards – I mean I could go on forever. We had the best time, but every since then I have always wanted to see more, go further, experience as much of the world as possible (and get a tan along the way). I could insert so many cliche travel quotes, but in summary, the wanderlust will never go, and I hope it never does.

Last summer, we packed up again and road tripped around America (amazing) and we are already planning our next trip for this summer.

So here goes!

1) Italy.
I have been to Italy before – (I recently went to Lake Garda with my best friend and her parents and we had THE BEST time. So much pasta. So much red wine. So much fun.) – but now I want to really see Italy, all of it. I want to go from the top to the bottom, exploring and sampling pizza all the way around. I want to do an Audrey and have a Roman Holiday. Top of the Italian bucket list is Rome, Venice, Florence and the stunningly amazing Amalfi coast. I am pretty sure this is where I will be heading this summer..

Pretty food focused images… priorities

2) Maldives.
This might be on here because apparently every celebrity that I follow on Instagram has been to the Maldives in the past few months. I realllllly want to go. Here or Bora Bora are really high up on my (fantasy) list of places I need to visit in my life. I want bright blue water and glass bottom bungalows. Yes. Very nice.

3) The Bahamas.
For the swimming pigs. We are talking about a carribean island where there are pigs that swim in the sea with you. NO  OTHER EXPLANATION NEEDED.

4) Santorini.
I had a stop over in Santorini (the most romantic greek island) for one night when me and my best friend from uni went to visit a few of our other uni friends, who were spending their summer on the island Ios. We had less that 12 hours in Santorini before our flight home but it was just so stunning that I would love to go back. Gorgeous white houses, cobbled streets, surrounded by the bluest sea. Plus… greek food.

I was on the Clickstay website earlier (/everyday) looking at holiday villas – and I found this one -seriously, can you get more perfection than this one below (here is a link to it). It is just so Instagram friendly – all that white…

5) Mykonos.
Still on the Greek Island theme – I also really want to go to Mykonos. And again, found myself a villa already – in preparation for when I can afford to go… I mean, commmme on – how pretty can you get? (link to this villa here)

6) South of France.
Darling. Just everything about it appeals to me! Food, wine, cheese, tan. Ok, getting carried away with the villas now – but, go on Clickstay.com and look at their South of France villas – they have some beauties in St Tropez.

7) Paris.
Sticking to the French vibe. Paris is always of my favourite places and somewhere I am desperate to go back to in 2016. I am planning on going back here for 1 or 2 days in February.

8) Bali.
On our whistle stop tour of the world, we went to Bali for 3 nights. We only went to one place – Seminyak – which was gorgeous and I really loved. But we just weren’t there for long enough to appreciate Bali. So I really want to go back. One of my friends from uni is heading there in March – I might just have to go with her. Sun sun sun. Fun fun fun.

9) Ibiza.
But not the partying scene. I want to go to the totally chilled, amazing food, glittering sea, chilled out vibey bit. It looks like the most beautiful, romantic island ever.

10) Skiing – anywhere in Europe.
My family never was one of those skiing families. The first time I went skiing was on a school trip; I fell over on the first day, torn a ligament in my knee and spent the rest of the week in my room by myself. I then wrote skiing off forever, not for me. However, when I was at university, everyone I knew was going on the 3rd year uni ski trip and my FOMO got the better of me – so I signed myself up. I managed not to break myself (which was ideal) and had such a great time. And I finally learnt how to ski – ish. I went again last year with 3 pals (plus one who was already out there who came and slept on our apartment floor) and we had the best time. Hot Chocolates, hot wine, cheese fondues, meat fondues… and snow. Now I am hooked. I am going again this year with those same buddies. I CANT WAIT. Imma build me some snowmen.

11) Japan.
Mainly for the cherry blossom. And the sushi. And because it just looks like the most insanely crazily amazing place ever.

Oh and I totally need to go to Rabbit Island. Thousands of rabbits running free everywhere. If you just don’t think about the amount of different rabbit diseases that could be flowing around your feet,  I bet it would be the cutest experience ever.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this and have added a few of these to your wanderlust wishlist. If you are looking for some holiday villa inspiration then I would really check out Clickstay.com (where I spend the majority of my procrastination time). They have villas all over the place, from Spain to Thailand to America to Antigua. As I showed you above – I neeeeed to stay in those greek villas. Not a want – a need.

Have a great weekend bunnies
