Cohorted Beauty Box January Edition Review

Hi there my loves. Today I am reviewing the January Edition of the Cohorted Beauty Box (Black Edition). If I am being honest, I had actually never heard of this beauty box until they contacted
me – but I sure am pleased to be introduced to them. Apparently they are the number one luxury beauty box in the UK – congrats! Luxury is the key word here – the products in the box are FAB. As you’ll be able to see, you get well know brands with ‘full size’ products, rather than little teeny weeny samples. I am a happy bunny.

The first praise I have for this box is that I can’t tell you how happy it made me to open up a box and
find all make-up products. I am so disheartened by opening boxes and finding samples
of random skincare or mini bottles of hair product which I will probably never use, just fluff to fill out the box really. I love make-up and trying out different brands and products that normally I wouldn’t get to try so this was a lovely surprise. I don’t know if the boxes are like this throughout the year but I was very pleased
with the contents of the January Edition.

The box includes brands such as Too Faced, Lancôme, Too Faced (again) and Cargo.

Lets start with my favourite brand of the moment – Too Faced Cosmetics.

Firstly – their packaging reminds me of being younger and
buying Barbie’s Make Up Kit, wearing glitter mascara, plastic lip glosses and blue
eyeshadows. It has such a Disney/ Polly Pocket/ Barbie-eque vibe to its packaging that just makes me so happy. I am a big fan of anything that makes me
feel nostaligic.

The first time I
walked past a Too Faced concession I was like, oh that looks pretty tacky – I bet it isn’t
great. But I was so wrong. Along with the rest of the blogging community, I
am a big fan of Too Faced now. And the branding that originally deterred me from trying it, is one of the main reason I now love it (and want everything from the range).

In the box, we received two products from Too Faced (does a mini victory dance). The first of those is the Too Faced Soul Mates Blushing Bronzer. I love this bronzer/blush mix. It is a full sized product (clapping emoji) and in the perfect warm bronzing shade. This one is called the ‘Carrie & Big’ (one of my favourite TV couples) and together they make the perfect match of blusher to bronzer – hence why they are called Sole Mates. This one is the light to medium shade but you can also get a darker shade – the Ross & Rachel (I mean, how cute is that). Perfect for warming up your face in these very, very, cold, pale, grey, winter months.

See what I mean about the Polly Pocket vibe!

Next up is the Too Faced Lip Injection Color Bomb. –no computer, it is COLOR, not colour — it is a brand name — please stop autocorrecting me.
This is another gorgeous product form Too Faced. It is so silky to
apply, and gives off a buttery beautiful finish. This colour ‘Bigger Berry’ is to dieee for. I love it.
Apparently it adds 20% of volume to your lips – personally, I just like the colour and haven’t noticed any size change, instant Kylie Jenner pout whilst wearing it, but it does go on like the softest satin and stays on for a while.

Next we have the Lancôme Le Corrector Pro Palette – colour 300. Again, another full sized (well I assume anyway) product. This set contains a corrector, a concealer and a finishing powder. And a mini brush. And instructions on the mirror – love that.
This is a great kit for under eyes/ bags/brightening etc. It is really easy to use, I mean you can’t go wrong with a step by step guide. I will definitely use it when my eyes are in need of some serious TLC & brightening but I don’t think I will be swapping out my other concealers in favour of the Lancôme for everyday use as I like the consistence of my YSL (obviously) better!

Last but not least – Cargo. Now, I have a confession for this Lipgloss Quad. When you open it, it has such a shine and glimmer to it that I assumed it was a hard pressed gloss, one where you rub your finger around in it for a bit until you get enough pigment to apply to your lips. Well, these are a LOT softer than that and I stuck my finger straight through the purple colour (hence the strategic positioning of the lid to cover up the stupid dip mark).

Apart from that total idiotic mistake – I was pleasantly surprised with these lipglosses. Normally, because I wear my hair down a lot, and it is long, and it is ridiculously windy at the moment, I avoid lipgloss like the plague, (every girl knows the struggle of lipgloss, hair and wind. Stuck & sticky.) However, these colours are gorgeous – I have the Casablanca Quad – and they go on beautifully and are not sticky at all, just feels like wearing Vaseline. Currently I am wearing the pale pink and nude tone mixed together and I heart it. Super handy to pop in your bag – big fan.

So that is what I got in the beauty box. Cohorted is a monthly beauty box that retails at £35 a month on a one month rolling subscription service, plus free postage (woo). I think the total price of the products that I received was around £90 (but I think that the Too Faced items are now on sale so will be cheaper) so in that sense – it is well worth it! This is such a great way of trying different brands, and getting full sized products that otherwise you might not be able to justify buying, especially not monthly.

I was really happy with this luxury beauty box – loved the products that I got inside, very current etc. I also got to try items that I would never have normally picked up – like the Cargo Quad, which I am now in love with.

As this is only the first box I have received from them, I can’t say if they are my favourite beauty box brand – as it is still early doors but I will definitely keep you posted!

What is your favourite beauty box company?

Lots of love xx
