Day 15 my loves.
Today has been a fab day in Jamaica – can’t believe we only have one full day left. This week has literally disappeared.
Started off with breakfast in bed – well not exactly. We got room service and ate breakfast on the balcony – which was a DREAM, then we headed out for a few hours of picture taking and getting content for the this hotel review which was super fun. My favourite part of my job is 100% the creative part of taking the actual photos. Deciding what outfit to wear to match where I am – deciding which location etc etc. But today we also got to head over to the very exclusive over-water villas in the resort. These are based on the Maldives / Bora Bora style villas – but they are right here in the caribbean (I think they are currently the only water villas in the Caribbean but don’t quote me on that). So we got to have a sneak peak at the super amazing water villas and the water bungalows (same but smaller and without a private pool – poor babies).
Then it was back to our resort for lunch and then we tried to lie on the beach but then came the best thunder storm since we have been it. It wasn’t a quick ‘liquid sunshine’ shower either – it was a full on thunder and lighting storm which went on for HOURS. So we sat in our room and watched that for a while before heading to dinner.
Alex has randomly decied to go to the gym …. after dinner …. So I am sitting in bed writing this post. So without further a do – here are my 5 thhings of the day:
5 Things That Made Me Happy Today:
1 . Â Breakfast in our room – is there anything better than literally rolling out of bed, putting a d-gown and slippers on and sleepily walking onto the balcony looking out over the gorgeous resort and eating bagels and french toast? I do not think so. Also – back to the bed – IT IS SO COMFY. Even though food was waiting for me – I did NOT want to get up this morning. The poor guy that bought the room service to our room had to walk past me hiding under the covers as I didn’t get up in time.
2 . When we got in from taking photos earlier – we got back to a filled bubble bath filled with petals all over it – which was arranged as a surprise from the hotel. I MEAN LOOK HOW CUTE THAT IS!! Such a lovely touch and just so so sweet.
3 . Hanging out in an over-water villa for the first time ever. I mean – am I kind of disappointed the first time I went into one of these villas was NOT my honeymoon – yes. BUT was it such a dream to pretend I lived there for a couple of house – absolutely. It was STUNNING. So gorgeous – so instagrammable, I will do well here.
4 . We watched a thunderstorm and I LOVE thunderstorms (as long as I am somewhere dry where I can watch as a spectator not a participant). But this storm was EPIC. We are talking huge forks of lighting, torrential rain and the loudest cracks of thunder – which yes I will admit made me scream one. Just one. I wasn’t expecting the bang.
5 . Last but not least – and no judging me on this one – but I had a happy point regarding Instagram. First of all – I got to swing on a swing in THE SEA. SO THAT MADE ME HAPPY but secondly my photo didn’t do horrendously on insta.
So over the past few days – for some reason – my Instagram engagement has been rock bottom. I don’t get it – I was getting like 400 likes in 6 hours… I used to get 400 likes in less than one hour – so yeah – heartbroken. I had one photo on Friday morning that got crazy likes and my reach was huge -. But then the next day – plumeted and hasn’t gone back up. So it has been really difficult to keep posting and not saying f*** it and deleting the app forever. I think I am especially bad because I have been comparing myself to everyone else with the same following as me – and being like oh great – everyone else is doing better than me. Super. FAB. But today – I had a photo that actually got OVER 700 for the first time in 5 days! WOOOO. So yeah – baby steps. Still nowhere near where I want it to go. But I am SO happy to finally have a photo that didn’t die a slow and painful death.
SO THAT WAS MY DAY. I am off to have a bath and then it should hopefully be a reasonably early night for me (I have had a sore throat and cold for the past few days from sleeping in an air con room (and from stress recently so my body gets super run down)) so I want a good 8 hours tonight 🙂
