In collaboration with Selfridges.
In today’s little fashion post I wanted to talk to you about two things – 1) my true love affair with Selfridges and 2) my style addiction to over the knee boots. I have been SO LUCKY to be collaborating with Selfridges *fangirls and cries with glee* to show you this GORGEOUS pair of killer Maje boots that I got from there. My feet are literally crying with happiness that they get to trot around in these insane boots all winter.
I have always been obsessed with Selfridges – it is my favourite department store. My mum has such great stories of shopping and visiting from when she was a child, and her love for the luxury story has been firmly installed in me. I love all the concessions, the FOOD HALL – oh my god – eating salt beef sandwiches in between shopping for Christmas decorations in August, the most exciting new beauty products, designer handbags and incredible coffee table books. Walking around there makes me feel very calm and always has. They literally have everything in there you could need – hairdressers, opticians, do they even sell fridges? They have all the best designers, a jeans bar and a whole shoe floor – it is shopping heaven.
And now – let us discuss the gorgeous this footwear style:
Over the knee boots. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
1 ) You make my legs look about 900x longer than they actually are.
2 ) You are just so flexible and fabulous as you go with jeans AND skirts AND dresses.
3 ) You can be casual and you can be formal.
4) You can be high heeled or flat and still look the sassiest of all the boots.
5) Suede, Leather, Latex, Lace Up, Tasselled, Velvet, Elastic – you know no boundaries.
That is what it boils down to – there isn’t a bad way to wear OTK Boots (in my opinion) especially if you have a truly beautiful pair.
I am completely obsessed with this style and have been for many years. When most people think over-the-knee or thigh-high boots – many people think of Pretty Woman. DUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUN PRETTY WOMAN. And MAN OH MAN did Vivian look good in those boots.
But now they are part of a very different wardrobe, that being one of winters most fashionable wardrobe staples.
Wearing OTK boots MEANS THAT CHRISTMAS IS COMING. You always know that you are heading into autumn/winter when you get your winter boots out of the cupboard and put away the sandals. And I for one am BEYOND excited!
So my beautiful boots are from Selfridges, from the brand Maje. They are black suede, and they are the most incredible fit. I can’t even understand the physics behind how they manage to stay up. They are tight – sure, but not squeezing all your thigh fat all over the place tight. Normally most OTK boots fall down within 4 mins of walking anywhere – especially if they are just with a skirt/dress as they just slip down your skin but I have tested these boots with jeans, tights and bare legs and they do not move. Most OTK boots have a little tie up at the back to keep them up – but these don’t. They just stay up. It’s like magic. I have magic boots.
They are incredibly deliciously well-made and designed. I love the heel – they are not high but they add that little boost in your step that gives you that sassy strut when walking down the street. You know the one – that little heel wiggle making you feel like queen of the world.
These are a luxury footwear item, something that will last you for years. The best type if investment. These babies cost £530. However, with all expensive purchases I make – I almost break it down – say I wear them 50 times this winter – that is likeee £10 a day to wear the most glamourous boots. And PLUS I will wear them for many years as they will last – so say I wear them 50 times a year – the next 5 years – THAT IS £2 A WEAR. Bargain.
However – if this is way out of your price range than there are many other brands at Selfridges such as Dune, Kurt Geiger and Carvela
If you wanted to spend even more on your little feet (after all they do support you all day – why not treat them) then they also have the most dreamy Stuart Weiztman, Balenciaga and Jimmy Choo boots
I have styled these boots with my favourite fur coat of the autumn – this pink one from Topshop – and then a big oversized cable knit jumper from Miss Selfridge and my Gucci bag (all of which you can buy from Selfridges)
I am so obsessed with these boots – in case you can’t already tell. They are super comfortable also – I am talking 8 hour working day comfort – not comfy for 1 hour and then you need to sit down the whole time for the rest of the day.
Thank you so much for reading! I really hope you enjoyed this post.
Let me know what your autumnal boot staples are in the comments
