Out of all the beauty boxes – Cohorted is definitely the one I look forward to the most each month. For two reasons – they have full sized products & the products are from beauty brands that are pretty well established. I am always so so disappointed when I open up beauty boxes to find miniature perfume samples or teeny weeny samples of conditioner, that realistically no one is ever going to be able to wash their hair with. Unless you are Stewy from Family Guy and you have 9 strands of hair.
So I love opening up a box to products that I would want to purchase myself. This month’s box was an absolute treat as it had products from brands that I have been wanting to try for a while. Firstly – The Balm eyeshadow palette. It is beyond beautiful – I have wanted it for months and so I was SO happy to find that in there.
It was a very chocolate-y colour themed box this month – brown nail varnish, brown eye crayon – perfect for Easter – the month of chocolate. The only thing that could of made this box better would have been the addition of some Lindt Lindor balls.
“So what was in the box?” I hear you say.
Ok.. so.
1) The Balm : Nude’Tude Palette (RRP: £35)
This baby speaks for itself. It is beyond amazing – plus its retail price is the same amount as the entire Cohorted box – so you are basically making money. Lets start off praising the packaging. It reminds me of an old school Benefit vibe but with naked ladies. (They also do a male version of this palette called the ‘Nude Dude’ palette – and I think it is very important that I get one of those too… see below)
These palettes are just too good. They are the sort of product that my Grandma would massively disapprove of – but that I think are the best things ever. Who doesn’t want to apply a little bit of ‘Fabulous’ or ‘Seductive’ to their eyes.
The Nude’tude palette has 12 shades in there, amazing pigmentation, and I am a big fan of the colours – all those nudes and naturals. So at least your eyes can get all dressed up, if nothing else.
Also – most of the names of the eyeshadows are SO good… ‘stubborn’, ‘snobby’, ‘sassy’, ‘stand-offish’, ‘selfish’. Love.
Huge fan.
2) BareMinerals – Heavenly Face Brush (RRP: £25)
Next up with have this amazing face brush from the ‘Bare Escentuals’ range from BareMinerals. It makes such a nice change getting a make up brush in a beauty box. This brush is recommended for using with loose powder foundations – but I have been using it as a blender for contouring etc. A lovely edition to my brush collection.
3) Pixi – Crayon Combo: Supernatural (RRP: £14.50)
I am on a huge ‘I love everything’ rant so I apologise – but I also love this. Pixi are a new brand for me – I have only just started using their products (late to the party as always) and I love them – and I love this crayon combo. (Lets add another love for good measure). There is a ‘line’ end and a ‘define’ end to create the perfect natural smokey eye which it really does. So easy to use as well.
(I have just read the instructions on how to use the pencil properly on the Pixi website, and it says – “Press-wiggle Line end into lash root from below lash line & smooth Define end onto lids, up to crease, and under eye for a super natural eye.”. God knows what a press-wiggle is – that sounds far too complicated for me, but it works well for me when I just make up what I am doing with it.)
It comes in 4 different shades for different looks, such as a brightening one and a super smokey one etc. It also said that is is smudge-resistant – which is actually true for once. It really is long lasting – for a basic day anyway. I can’t guarantee how well it will last if you ran a marathon or cried after having a huge operation or something. But for day to day – it is fab.
4) NailsInc – Shade: Cadogan Square (RRP: £9)
Big fan of Nails Inc – was not a huge fan of the colour when I opened the box though. HOWEVER, I did a little sample nail and actually its a really beaut orangey nude colour. Kind of like a bad fake tan – but it just works.
5) The Balm – Eye Primer ‘Put a lid on it’ (Sample size – RRP: £5)
This is the only thing I was really disappointed with in the box. Cohorted advertise that they include 5 full sized products in each box, and this eye primer is a sample size – which is annoying. This one is only 3.7ml rather than 11.8ml full sized version so it is so very ickle (does that sounds really petty?) but its still a great product.
I never used to use eye primer – because really who has the time? But after using the Urban Decay primer and now this – I won’t go back to my foolish lazy ways before. Well, I will when I am running late, but some days when I do my make up properly, I will use this. It lightens and brightens your lids and allows eyeliner to stay on for much longer.
Price of Box – £35 a month – (postage is free which is fab). The total cost of all the products if bought separately is £88.50 so this box – as always – is GREAT value for money.
I am so excited for the April box already.
*Bonus alert* I didn’t get round to reviewing the February box – but I thought I would give you a quick summery and show you what you got inside that one too.. for fun.
The main product in the box was the Chanel eyeshadow. I repeat. Chanel. These guys don’t mess around. They put Chanel in your beauty boxes. Chanel.
Other than that – unfortunately – I wasn’t blown away by contents of the Feb box. It was prettttty average. A perfume sample (my worst) of an old perfume – the ‘Lola Marc Jacobs’ one. Some Dove ‘Underarm Dark Mark Eraser Intensive Night Cream’… now, I don’t have dark marks under my arms… so I will not be trying this – because it also sounds pretty weird. I literally checked the box about 10 times to make sure it didn’t say ‘under eye’ but it is definitely talking about armpits. Nice. Plus, I don’t really consider Dove to be a luxury item.
There were two Elemis Pro-Collagen hydra-gel eye masks which I haven’t tried yet but I am very excited to try soon, perhaps next time I have a bubble bath, with millions of candles and relaxing music… but again – not really a full-sized product.
There was a beaut lip gloss from ‘Cargo’. I really like Cargo and I did only discover them through Cohorted. It is meant to last 6 hours – I have never worn a lipgloss that lasts 6 hours but the colour is beautiful.
The other full-sized product was the ‘BareMinerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment’. This is a nighttime powder that is supposed to “reduce the appearance of pores, improve luminosity and deliver increased cell turnover. This nighttime mineral treatment is powered by our proprietary ActiveSoilTM Complex to give you skin-renewing benefits”. Sounds very fancy – however I received the shade medium and I am definitely not medium, I am pretty much clear right now… Maybe when I have a bit of a tan in summer I will try this out, as it does sound dreamy! I have also pretty much nailed down my skincare routine at the moment and don’t want to start adding new things to it right now – BUT I will keep you posted if I use it.
Now for the the Chanel ILLUSION D’OMBRE eyeshadow. It is amazing. I received the shade 91 – ‘Apparition’ – and it is perfect for doing a smokey blue eye. LOVE.
So that is my review of the March edition of the Cohorted Beauty Box plus a quick summery of Februarys. I really do think that they are my favourite beauty box out there at the moment.
Quick disclaimer again – I receive a complimentary edition of the Cohorted Beauty Box – but all opinions are my own etc etc bla bla bla.
Hope you enjoyed this review! Let me know if you have any questions about any of the products below in the comment section!
